Workshop: RC Plane Design & Assembly Session
Led by Samaoj Lalindra, Founder – Hobby Planes & Damitha Navarathna, Lead Aircraft. Engineer, Acro Aircraft Seating (Pvt) Ltd., UK.
Held in the heart of Colombo, this vibrant workshop brought together 90–100 students from across Sri Lanka, including participants from local & international schools, universities, & students with hearing disabilities.
Aged between 12 & 25years, the group was diverse, yet united by a shared curiosity and passion for flight.The day was filled with learning and hands-on making. The RC plane design and assembly session, expertly conducted by Samoj, which gave students the chance to bring concepts to life.
This was followed by an engaging Introduction to Aerospace Engineering, led by Damitha, which opened into an interactive Q&A session.
From the quiet focus during assembly to the laughter and teamwork throughout, the event was a beautiful blend of skill-building, inclusivity, and inspiration — ending on a high note with a lively quiz competition.
